The Quad Seal and Bushing

Previous | Home | Next
This is the Quad Seal (upper left).  I'd never seen one before.  It's not as complicated as it sounds.  It's like a square O-ring with grooves in the flats.  It goes on next.  I doused it with transmission oil before slipping it on (upper right).  It rides on the remaining flat part of the output shaft up against the main bearing inner race.

Next comes the spacer.  It has a groove that should face the transmission.  I believe it allows room for the quad seal or else the quad seal will be squashed flat.  (lower left) Finally, the seal is wiped with lube as well as the bushing and the bushing is slipped into place.  (lower right)
